Import a 3D model

The Import a 3D model page

3D model stores a GLB or glTF file in the library on this device. In Fitting you can show it as a reference model and draw your members over it.

Add a model

Section titled “Add a model”
  1. On Projects, click 3D model.
  2. Choose a .glb or .gltf file of up to 128 MB.
  3. Check the preview, Size and Points, and give it a Name.
  4. Click Save to library. The model opens in the library.

Use it in a project

Section titled “Use it in a project”
  1. Open the project in Fitting.
  2. In the World panel, open Reference model and choose a model.
  3. Use Show, Opacity and Unlink to control it.

Export to glTF from your CAD package if it cannot write GLB directly.

  • Fitting workspace: Build a 3D assembly of members in Fitting. Every member becomes a part, and the joints where members meet are worked out for you.
  • Scan a mockup: Photograph a physical mockup from every side and get back a 3D model to use as a reference. Scanning is in beta and needs a network.
  • Projects dashboard: The Projects dashboard lists every cutting list on this device. Create, open, duplicate and delete projects, or start an import or scan.
  • Import a machine file: Turn a BTLx, BTLz, BVN or BVX file, or a Zaaglijst JSON backup, into a project. Check the parts before you create it.
  • Parts editor: Edit parts in the Parts view: profile, length, end shapes and extra processings, with 2D and 3D drawings and a live validity check.
  • Export files: Export a PDF cutting list, CSV, technical drawings, a project backup and BTLx, BVN or BVX machine files. See what blocks an export.
