Straight lap
A straight lap (simple scarf) lengthens a beam: both ends are cut away over the same length so they overlap.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”Use it for purlins and plates that are mainly loaded in compression. It is quick to make. One or two dowels hold the ends in place.

Add a straight lap
Section titled “Add a straight lap”- Select the part in the Parts list.
- Under Extra processings, click Add.
- Type
straight lapin the search field and pick Straight lap. - Set Face, End and Position X.
- Set Length, both depths and the number of Drill holes.
- Check that the part shows a green check. If not, open the Issues tab.
